With breathtaking panoramic sea views that match the design-led interiors, El Fuerte is perfectly placed to take advantage of Marbella’s vintage style and beach-side location. Glass-wrapped rooftop restaurant ‘Edge’, headed up by Michelin starred chef Paco Pérez, crowns the hotel, making it the place to enjoy sunset drinks and specialities such as deep-fried cod fritters.
Design notes
Acclaimed Chilean interior designer Jaime Beriestain was handed the reigns of this substantial renovation. He has succeeded in blending timeless interiors whilst communicating a contemporary Andalusian atmosphere using tactile materials of raffia, wood and luxurious local leather. In the rooms, sumptuous beds with crisp white linens, marbled bathrooms and ambient lighting create a relaxing space. Signature white and burgundy striped poolside umbrellas throw-back to the hubbub of the hotel’s original opening in 1957. Notable guests have included Diana Dors and Walt Disney, and today both the hotel’s design and the gastronomy have ushered El Fuerte triumphantly into the 21st century.

What’s around
A 5-minute stroll from El Fuerte you will find yourself in the middle of Marbella’s Old Town. The most picturesque part of the ancient quarter is the Plaza de los Naranjos (Orange Square). Transporting you to another time, the renaissance fountain trickles away peacefully in this charming square surrounded by fragrant citrus trees. Scarlet geranium flowers adorn the walls and narrow winding cobbled streets dating back to the 15th century adding to the mystery of the place. If a refreshing dip in the Alboran Sea and an explore of the coast by boat appeals, head 15-minutes west to Puerto Banús where a relaxing trip can be arranged.
